DPI vs PPI
Two related measurements used at different points in a print workflow.
What each term means
PPI describes image pixels per inch at a chosen display or print size. DPI often describes printer dots per inch. Print size calculators commonly use “DPI” for the requested image pixel density; this site follows that familiar convention.
Calculate the effective value
Divide the image width in pixels by the desired print width in inches. Repeat for height. If they differ, the lower value limits the available image detail.
Practical check
A 3000 px image printed 10 inches wide has 300 pixels per inch along that axis. The actual result also depends on the printer, source image, paper and viewing distance.
